SAN FRANCISCO: Tripwire, provider of risk-based security and compliance management solutions, has introduced Tripwire SecureScan, a free, cloud-based vulnerability management service for up to 100 Internet Protocol addresses on internal networks.

This new tool provides vulnerability management mainly for small and medium-sized businesses as they lack resources for enterprise-grade security technology. According to Symantec, small businesses are more vulnerable to security threats as they commonly rely on anti-virus software and firewalls.

“Tripwire SecureScan makes it easy for smaller organizations to know exactly which devices are on their networks, how these devices are vulnerable and how to manage their security risks,” says Dwayne Melancon, chief technology officer for Tripwire.

However, this service is very easy to use with no hardware or software installation required. Organizations of any size can use the service to discover detailed information about networked devices and find vulnerabilities in hardware and software applications that are used in cyberattacks. The solution also assists users by catering in-depth information on how to fix the detected security weaknesses.

“Our goal is to raise the bar for cybersecurity because we want to help make the Internet a safer place for everyone. As more individuals connect to corporate networks from remote locations, it is increasingly important to find ways to limit the risk these connections introduce to company networks,” adds Melancon.
